Preston's Scary Day

Yes this picture is Preston asleep on his Daddy's chest in an ER room at Dell Children's....

Here is the scary story:

So my friend Julie and her son Jaxon came over yesterday morning to play around 11:30. We just sat Eva and jaxon down to eat lunch and I went upstairs to get the babies and bring them down to eat as well. I went into the boys room. Parker was standing in his crib like always, ready to get out and play. I immediately got alarmed because usually Preston does this too. So I said "Hey boys" to wake Preston up, and I still got nothing. My heart dropped, as this never happened, I just knew something was wrong. I walked over to his crib and heard him moaning. My immediate impression was that he was stuck in his crib. I scooped him up and ran out to the game room to see him in the light. I was horrified to say the least! His whole right side of his head and face was swollen and droopy, he was like a noodle, and his lips were quivering despite it not being cold and him being in a very warm sleeper.

I screamed for my friend and the panic started. I finally composed myself enough to get my shoes on. My friend Julie immediately stepped into mommy mode and got the rest of my kids fed so I didnt have to worry. I walked outside with Preston in his carseat ready to take him to the ER and I saw my neighbors home and thought to call her to come help. Nan and Pop were on there way too. I wasnt able to get ahold of Trever yet but he called as I was driving and Melonie rushed to my home to help with the kids and Trever was going to meet me at the hospital. Honestly, Preston looked so bad and was so lethargic I was really afraid he wasnt going to make it to the hospital.

So I pulled over. I knew it was not safe for me to drive with how panicked I was and I just wanted to help Preston. So I pulled over in an apartment complex and called 911. The cops, fire dept, and ambulance were all there within 5 minutes. As we rode in the ambulance to the hospital Preston was already starting to be responsive, his heart rate dropped from 160 down to the 130s and he was starting to play with a little toy ambulance truck. Trever had met us at the apartment complex and followed us to the hospital. As soon as we got settled into our room Preston was acting near to normal. He had a red spot on the side of his head and his right eye was still a little swollen, but he wanted to get down to play and he wanted to eat. When the doctor came, she said she wanted to do bloodwork to make sure he didnt have an infection and she said that she may want to do a CT to check for brain bleeds. She pretty much ruled out the brain bleed idea because she said he only would have gotten worse and not better in that short amount of time. His blood work all came back negative.

So this is what she thinks happened. He must have hit his head in his crib. Then, because of the pain either passed out, had a small seizure, or went into shock. I must have walked in right after it happened when he was coming out of it....

So after 6 or 7 hours we came home. Everything is good now, despite the whirlwind of a day yesterday. Hopefully today will be very uneventful. Thank you to our friends and family for everything you did yesterday! You all are so amazing!

Dahlia Bear

We all just love it when Daddy gets home from work! He pretty much gets clobbered! Its a nightly ritual for Eva and the babies to dogpile on daddy!

This week ECI came back out and did an asssesment on Dahlia and Madelyn. Madelyn developmentally is at the age of a 10 month old, so right on track for her adjusted age but cognitively at the stage of a 7 month old. They werent to concerned with that though and they just want to see her be able to play social games like peek a boo within 6 months. So they have decided to just put her in the Follow-Along program where they send Trever and I a questionaire every 3 months and then they will score it and see if they need to send anyone out to help her.

Dahlia on the other hand, will begin intense therapy the first week in March. Developmentally she is at the stage of a 6 month old and cognitively at the stage of a 3 month old. We have 2 different therapists coming once a week to get her to start sitting, crawling, eating on her own and interacting more. She is pretty weak in the arms, legs and torso so they have taught us how to do some strength building activities to help her. Most of this is due to being in the NICU for so long and pretty much just laying in a bed all day. Also, the oxygen tubing restricted her and she is easily fatigued because of the hole in her heart. So we are just being patient and helping her as much as we can!

Well gotta go! Arent yall so proud of me for posting so much lately? :)

Valentines 2010

I thought I would post some pics of the kiddos on Valentines Day!

They are all doing well except for the rampant runny nose around here!

Eva- Definetly a two year old. She is learning about her independence lately and wants to do things by herself. She is learning the valuable lesson of sharing. She has been playing alot with her little buddy Jaxon. Hopefully the weather will get nicer soon because she loves to be outside. She has been saying some really funny things lately like "I love you so much, babe". It is hilarious! She is a great big sister and is really close with Parker. They love to get into trouble together! She has a new favorite movie and it is Mulan, she could watch it ten times a day! Her imaginary friend Mina is still around (somewhere) too and they play together often, when Mina isnt in time out that is :)

Parker- Yes, still keeping momma on her toes! He is nonstop 24-7. He pulls up on everything and I think he will be walking in a few short weeks. He has learned to climb up on the couch, actually he has learned to climb up most everything including people :)! Developmentally he is right on target and doing well!

Dahlia- Awe, my little angel. I always tell her she should go into the cloning business because she is the perfect baby. She is just barely sitting but still needs a little support. She is rolling a ton and pushing herself around in circles when she is on her belly. She is very sensitive and dainty. Dahlia is on some high calorie formula to help her gain weight. She is a very very picky eater and hates anything that is not sweet. She comes by it honestly though :)

Preston- Yup, stil a momma's boy through and through! He is definetly the biggest of the bunch. He is crawling everywhere and pulling up on stuff. He has the loudest voice of all the babies. He is such a good baby, very very content.

Madelyn- Definetly the most outgoing baby. She loves to sing and smile. Her hair is growing so long it is crazy! She is crawling and pulling up on stuff. She is on some high calorie supplements because she is still pretty small. I dont know how Dahlia ever gets any sleep since her and Madelyn share a bedroom! Madelyn loves to sing, talk, and chatter all the time in her crib!

Trever- Busy Busy man he is. He just started a new job at Oracle on Monday. It is a contract to hire position selling databases and other computer stuff that is way above my head! Real Estate is also picking up quite a bit so when he gets home and on the weekends that is usually what occupies his time. It was so nice because last night we had a date night where we went through a drive through, went to get some clothes for the kids and went grocery shopping. My idea of a fabulous date nowadays lol! It is so funny to watch people gawk at how much formula we are buying at the store! We buy 16 cans of formula, about 50 bottles of baby food, 6 boxes of infant cereal, 6 or 7 plastic bottles of fruit juice, and 3 cases of Pediasure. The grocery bill is definetly at an all time high right about now but I have a pretty sure feeling it will only continue to rise as my bottomless pits (Preston and Parker) continue to grow older!

Me, the Quad-Mom, Crazy lady- Well I have been OK. It sure is tough not having Trever around anymore but in a weird sense it gives me a lone responsibility that is empowering. Just in the time Trever has been working, I have bonded with all of my children in a way I could have never imagined. I am learning what works the best and the babies are definetly on a very tight schedule. Crock pot meals have become my best friends because I can make dinner when it is convenient for me. I cant lie and say that I havent had any melt downs though. I have an amazing friend that spends alot of time over here selflessly helping me and we have become really close. My inlaws help on Sunday so that we can go to church and the occasional Mamaw day is always a treat! Last weekend I got to go on an overnight trip to San Antonio with some friends which was nice. My business has really taken off and my outfits are going for a lot on Ebay. It is definetly really rewarding to still be able to do what I love despite my crazy busy life :)

Well I am so sorry I have been such a terrible blogger! I just barely came across a gem program Picassa that makes it much easier for me to upload photos on here! So I promise I will be better :)
